With spring in full bloom and summer just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to share a family favorite salad recipe.
I receive many requests for the recipe on this one when I take it to social functions or family barbeques! It’s also a great one for feeding a big crowd inexpensively!!
Oriental Cabbage Salad
Ingredients:
6 cups chopped cabbage (2 small bags of chopped cabbage is perfect)
8 Tbl sliced almonds (toasted)
10 green onions chopped
3 pkgs. Ramen noodles (any flavor as you only use the noodles)
Dressing:
1 cup vegetable oil
4 Tbl sugar
1 Tbl pepper
2 tsp salt
2 tsp Accent
6 Tbl rice vinegar
DIRECTIONS:
Toast sliced almonds in a fry pan on medium heat until just browned–set aside. Chop onions–set aside.
Combine chopped cabbage, onions and almonds in a large mixing bowl. Break up Ramen noodles into bite size (or smaller) pieces (discard seasoning packets or use in another recipe!). Add the noodles to the mixing bowl.
Whisk together the dressing ingredients……
…….and pour over the salad!
The easiest way to mix is to get in there with both your hands and mix it up!
Let the salad sit at least an hour before eating so the Ramen noodles have time to soften, unless, you’re like my kids and love it crunchy, then….dig right in!!!
Simple as that!
This is a great one for Father’s Day! Guys tend to LOVE it!!
Let me know what you think!
Enjoy!!
