Old/New Office Chair

Old/New Office Chair

While I’ve been “revamping” my office/guest room, I realized I needed a chair!

I checked all the usual sources…Craigslist, thrift stores, Goodwill.

No luck……

So, I decided to “shop my house”!!

We’ve had this extra office chair (how does someone get an extra office chair?)….I blame the kids…. :)

anyhoo…….

I knew I could redo that chair.

Save money.

Have material for a blog post.

Perfect!! :)

I proceeded to take the chair apart……

……..and save the screws (very important!). :)IMG_2770

I purchased an ordinary painters drop cloth from Lowes for $20 and went to task!

I thought about giving you a full tutorial but, quite honestly, this is another time when I got so caught up in the moment, I did not take any pictures!  So, if you really want a tute…..let me know and I’ll give you the details of how I did this!

Once I got her all put back together…..she had a new life!

I added a stencil from The Graphics Fairy to the back of the chair…….

Very basic and simple but for my first stencil onto fabric endeavor….I’m pleased!

Now, I have a place to sit!! :)

Not bad for $20!

Until next time………

  1. Too cool! I love it! “Shop your house”, haha. I totally get that. Every time you do one of these projects, it makes me think of an item in this thrift store that I could do the same thing with.

  2. Liz @ Infuse With Liz :

Wonderful job! I never think to do things like that! Love your little corner and all the deco items!

I need this chair! I’m a writer. The chair I currently have is no where near this comfy and cozy. I love it! Great job!

That is just awesome! I need to do that to mine because this black just does not match my pretty little office at all! ;)

  7. shirley@housepitalitydesigns :

Oh wow!!!…what a great idea to cover it with the drop cloth….I would have never thought to take an office chair apart and recover it….you did a fantastic job and it is certainly a beautiful chair…

  8. Hi Angela, I wanted to ask you is your wall – wallpaper or a stencil? I love it!!

  9. rainonatinroof01 :

Lovin the chair! Especially the graphic you used! Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof

  10. Ana Sullivan :

The chair I am currently sitting on could use this. I only think of reupholstery in living room furniture. This is a great idea! Read my post on teaching children to sew:

  11. Did you cover the back of the top (or did you leave it brown since your chair is in the corner) ….. did you use piping to hid the staples …. please send tute if I am confused
