Happy Day my blogging buddies!
Remember my front porch spring makeover and my rug I “snagged” from my laundry room?
It’s one of my favorites and I really liked it on my porch but I feared the weather might damage it and I missed it when I folded clothes! (I know, I know….whatever!)
I was on the hunt! I decided I wanted one a little bigger but didn’t want to pay a “big” price!
SCORE!! I found this bamboo beauty at a local craft store for $29! She was mine and I had a vision!!!
I had been poking around Pinterest one night (who doesn’t, right?) looking for inspiration for front porch rugs when I ran across Julie’s blog,
Less Than Perfect Life of Bliss
and found this……
That was it!! I’ve been totally smitten with the bee and laurel leaf motif lately and knew this was my direction!
Julie has a wonderful tutorial with a pattern you can download! Thank you, Julie! You rock!!
I printed out her pattern, cut it out and then traced it on some card stock as I wanted it to be sturdy to trace around. Then I traced it onto the rug with a sharpie…..
It was my intention to then paint the design but as you can tell, I started filling it in with the sharpie and it covered well! So, I “colored” between the lines until my design was finished!!
I turned out great! Honestly, I thought I would need to put a coat or two of sealer on it for fear that rain might make the sharpie ink run but we had a nice little thunderstorm last night and she didn’t smudge or run a bit!
Now I’m thinking of adding the bee and laurel leaf on the other side of the porch. Perhaps in pillows or stenciled on my basket!
Let me know what you think?? You know I love to hear from you!!!
Thanks for stopping by!
Until next time……..

Love how the rug turned out! I wish I could find one of those rugs for that price! What a steal!
LOVE the rug and the bee and leaf turned out bEAUTIFULLY!!! I love bees on anything too. So, I would bring it over to the other side too. XO, Pinky
I love it!!!
Love your rug!!! Do you think I could cut this rug down? It is about a foot too wide for my porch.
Looks absolutely gorgeous! I love it on the bamboo, too!
The rug looks great! I can’t believe it was just $29. You got a lot of bang for your buck. I love the seat cushions in your rocking chairs…it looks SO inviting. I’m going to have to copy you.
Just love the bee and laurel design…the bamboo mats really look great on porches..such a beautiful natural element to enhance the outdoors!!! You did a beautiful job!
Angela, you did a beautiful job with the outdoor rug! The new design is perfect. It looks like it was always there. You are very talented! Very pretty!
This is such a good idea and I love the bee! Well done and for a great price too. Thanks for stopping by my blog!
I love this idea!! It turned out beautiful. And I love that you used Sharpie – much easier than painting. Have you see the oil-based paint pens? They make detailed painting a lot easier too!
