New lamp for the Porch

New lamp for the Porch

In my quest to perfect my Summer Porch, I decided I needed a new lamp!

Although I love my bird lamp, (and he will be back), he did not go with my color scheme!

So, off to Goodwill I went in hopes of finding a lamp for cheap that I could paint!

I scored BIG TIME!!!

I found this wicker lamp base for $6.99 and a lamp shade for $2.99!!!!

As I was pulling things together for the summer look I was going for………

…….remember my inspiration…..

………..I decided the lamp and shade needed a little color!!!!

:)

First, with the lamp shade……..

I started with taping off stripes with painters tape.  Be sure to securely press the edges down so the paint doesn’t bleed under the tape.  I was not precise about measurements.  I just “eyeballed” it.

I used craft paint in the color Blue Ribbon and applied with a sponge brush.

It took approximately three coats for complete coverage.  When the paint was dry, I removed the tape!

Next came the base……..

I was getting there but it wasn’t quite complete…….

It needed some finishing touches……..rope!

IMG_7934

I just hot glued rope around the top and bottom of the shade.

IMG_7937

I tied a simple knot around the neck of the lamp base……

That’s much better!!

The porch is almost done!  I just need to stencil the rug and do a little more painting!  The full reveal coming soon!!!

Until next time……………….

Isn’t it amazing how a lampshade can make such an impact on a space? Sounds like you were all in for less than ten bucks because you probably had most of the materials. It really looks adorable Angela! And you eyeballed the lines?? Good job!
