Remember this little guy…….
…….I couldn’t decide whether to reupholster, slipcover or paint!
I decided to PAINT!!!
The process was quite simple but time-consuming. I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Country Grey (which looks more like cream to me).
This is after one coat…..I ended up doing three (although I probably could have gotten away with two since this sits in my bedroom).
I applied one coat of clear wax and painted the feet AS Aubusson Blue with a dark wax. As I have read from others who have tried this, the texture is a little stiff but not uncomfortable. I would probably not do this on my living room couch only because it gets a lot more “traffic” on it, but for our bedroom, it’s perfectly fine!
I just added a simple throw blanket and some pillows to complete the look.
Now it’s the perfect spot to put on our shoes or for the cat to lounge!!
And, yes, that is a skinny holiday tree still up in my bedroom! It’s such a beautiful champagne color and gives off such a warm, comforting glow day and night that I have not tired of it!
Right not there is a beautiful burgundy bird perched on a limb for Valentine’s Day. I’m working on what to do for spring!
I’m really happy with the settee, but you know me……
….I’m feeling it needs a little something more. Maybe a grayish/blue strip or a french design of some sort, or, maybe even stencil a design like a damask on the seat or all over!

That’s pretty amazing – you have to admit! It looks great and who would have thought it would really work.
I love it. I have been painting upholstery for years..about 15 years. I have found that if you lightly “sand” between coats it becomes much softer and kind of pushes the paint down into the woven fabric, too. I think a stripe or even a French graphic would be perfect…but I DO like it just as it is, too. xo Diana

Does it have to be a special kind of paint….I have Annie Sloan paint that I used to paint wooden chairs…..Would I be able to use the same paint on fabric? I love yours and I have a fabric chair that I would love to change the color……Thanks for sharing this…It has put me to “thinking”…..
